Sunburn Festival has grown into Asia’s largest electronic dance music event and a defining force in India’s festival landscape. Since its inception in 2007 on the beaches of Goa, Sunburn has transformed from a niche gathering into a global phenomenon, drawing over 150,000 attendees annually and featuring a roster of the world’s most celebrated DJs. The festival is synonymous with high-octane music, immersive production, and an atmosphere that fuses India’s vibrant culture with the global pulse of EDM.

Held each December, Sunburn’s main event now takes place at Dhargalim in North Goa, a location chosen for its expansive open-air spaces and stunning vistas. The festival runs for three days—December 28 to 30 in 2024—offering a multisensory experience that goes far beyond music. Attendees are greeted by massive themed stages, state-of-the-art light shows, pyrotechnics, and interactive art installations. The 2024 edition will embrace an underwater theme, with six stages catering to different electronic genres and an eclectic crowd of both Indian and international fans.

Sunburn is not just about the music—it’s a carnival of experiences. Festival-goers can enjoy ferris wheel rides, bungee jumping, tattoo parlors, graffiti stations, flea markets, and after-parties that keep the energy alive into the early morning. The food scene is equally diverse, with multi-cuisine stalls and experiential zones. The sense of collective celebration is palpable, with thousands dancing in unison, letting go of inhibitions, and sharing in the liberating spirit that defines Sunburn. As one attendee described, “The shared energy of thousands swaying to the same rhythm is what makes Sunburn magical.”

Sunburn’s reputation is built on its world-class lineups. Over the years, it has hosted EDM royalty including David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Alan Walker, DJ Snake, and The Chainsmokers. The 2024 edition will see headliners like Skrillex, Alesso, Peggy Gou, KSHMR, and ARGY, alongside acts such as Yellow Claw, Mrak, Levi, Sam Feldt, and Panjabi Hit Squad. The festival is also a platform for emerging Indian talent, with homegrown artists like Teri Miko, Siana Catherine, Sartek, Pro Bros, Candice Redding, and Ravetek sharing the stage with international stars.

Sunburn’s influence extends beyond the music world, attracting a steady stream of Bollywood celebrities and socialites.
